SMI Diary -Chapter 1 -Halfway There

T his adventure has been an awesome one so far, to say at least...full of awe, or maybe a better word would be...wonderful? Yes, full of wonder. This thing called ‘SMI' - Student Missionary Internship, is a program my church has for the highschool students that attend there and offers a four months training that requires time, effort and dedication as each student is offered the chance to develop a strong relationship with the Lord, a strong relationship with other believers all while practicing leadership and servanthood in fulfillung the great commission. This program has been the main reason I haven't blogged in months. I signed the commitment expecting a challenge and that's most definitely what I got. Not in the way I thought I would though - definitely not. But, nevertheless, an eye opening, adrenaline-rushing challenge. It wasn't  because our homework was particularly difficult. In fact, it's been quite refreshing and honestly the highlight of my day to brea...

Grace warriors Retreat 2016

Image
I had the amazing privilege of going on a two day trip up in the mountains with 18 other girls and our amazing leaders.  I could honestly write about this trip for ages, so instead of not sparing a detail, I'm just going to explain what I gathered from it spiritually.  Going on this trip was definitely memorable and full of laughs, just like anything I go to involving other people.  However, even extroverts get overwhelmed sometimes. I couldn't have been happier but, I needed some alone time after we'd gotten to the gorgeous house which was to be ours for the weekend.  My sleep wasn't the most comfortable one. My sinuses weren't the best. So, the next morning, I got to spend some time with my Jesus as the sun was rising.  This was a trip where I was expecting to gather a lot from socializing with others, and though I had some time to get in some great fellowship, the most refreshing part was getting away from it all.  My inner introvert was showi...

Winter Jam 2016

Image
Whew! So, can we just dive into one of the best days of the entire month like now ? Winter Jam 2016.  That Christian concert that makes it's way over to Arizona every year. Ten bands for ten dollars.  So, let's dive into it.  Last Friday, my best friend and her dad and brother came to pick us up along with some of our East Valley friends. I think there were eight of us total?  Anyway, we got to the venue, which was gorgeous...and one of my very favorite places to go to. #Memories  We were late but luckily, the security directed us to an extremely short line and we were inside the venue in about five minutes. Another friend of ours rushed up to us and told us we were late. The initial plan was to combine our two groups and all sit together but the arena was huge and it was hard to find each other amidst 10,000+ people. By the time we got to where they were sitting, the seats they saved us were taken. Our group ended up settling for a balcony seat, which did...

Brief update - November

Image
Even right now, as I'm writing this, I'm stressed out. But, since I haven't made a single post this week, I decided you guys deserve a quick update from me. So, let's go into what I've been doing the last week of October and this lovely beginning of November. Of course I've had church every Sunday, Grace Warriors every Sunday Night, youth group every Wednesday night and school and chores in between. In addition, we had a wonderful time at the church fall festival, full of food, fun, face painting, helium (long story) and lots and lots of candy . Here's a picture of all the candy I confiscated. I still have a ton left, even after sharing with friends and eating some myself!!! This doesn't even picture what each of my siblings retrieved XD In addition to this, me and my youth group went on an outreach on Wednesday night, which was more fun than I'd had in a long time, despite my sickness...Which I'm pretty sure was allergies. The sudden drop...

Pain and Going Home

Image
It's probably not what it sounds like.... Click bait. Sorry XD Alright, so let's do a brief recap of yesterday. I'd planned on having this post up by yesterday but, I was so tired.  We ended up going to visit our old church after many months of not doing so.  The reason we had to leave our old church is because it was too far for us to drive 45 minutes every Sunday and stay connected with living so far away.  So, we were really excited to go back and visit. I honestly cried. Upon driving into the parking lot, people started waving at us.  It was such a wonderful time of visiting with old friends and dozens of hugs, high fives and...yes. I was crying. It seriously does so much getting to see your best friends, hug them and have people welcome you 'home,' after months of being away. It was such a fun time.  One of my favorite things can't really be described in words. I can only say it was wonderful being able to spend time with my church family and share...

Ribbons Tea House and Blessings

Image
I know, I already posted today. It's an abomination to post twice in one day, isn't it? Well, I guess you can just read one today and the other tomorrow and we'll just pretend I didn't commit such an offense. ;) I woke up today, not only sick to my stomach, but also feeling kind of lonely. Noooo idea why. I have seven people in my family and rarely is it very quiet. I guess I was just stressed out with tests I had to take and things.  Well, anyway, I was washing dishes when I took a break to text my friend Catie.  I was telling her about how I was having a really bad day.  She replied asking if I needed Ice Cream. And I was like "Lol, yeah." Two minutes later, she's asking me if her and her mom can pick me up to take me out to get ice cream and tea. So, I ran it by my parents and replied, "Oh my gosh, yes!!" So, they came and picked me up and went to the cutest little tea shop, called Ribbons run by someone that goes to my church. It was ...

Art Show

Well, I'm a bit late posting about this art show that took place at my church this past Friday, but I thought it was worth posting about. My younger sister and mom both had submitted pieces into this art show, so my dad dropped them off at the church a few hours later and came home. While he was gone, I took the liberty of making a Facebook live-stream consisting of the typical Kiah- flailing around and calling it dancing. Anyway, after that, we ate dinner and then headed over to the church.  There were a lot of older people at the show and some families.  I ran into an old friend and hung out with her for awhile and a couple other people I'd heard of but never officially met until that day. It was overall a calming experience.  The funny thing is, when I'd first walked in, I looked over and saw tables covered with various desserts and was like, "OH MY GERSHH THERE'S SO MUCH!!!" So, naturally, I ate a lot of dessert, but that's okay. We'll just c...
